After serving the Harrisonburg, Virginia community for over two decades, Alley Cat Tattoo has relocated to a new, larger space, promising an enhanced experience for tattoo enthusiasts. The beloved local business, formerly situated at 990 Reservoir St., has moved just a short distance to 220 Reservoir St., marking a significant step in its continued growth and commitment to the community.
The new building, previously occupied by Wampler & Associates Rehabilitation for 30 years, offers Alley Cat Tattoo a substantial upgrade. Owner Nick Swartz highlighted the serendipitous nature of the move, noting the previous tenant’s crucial role in facilitating the transition. “[He] was really instrumental in getting us in here, helping us move in, and getting us approved by the City of Harrisonburg,” Swartz explained, emphasizing the collaborative spirit of local businesses in Harrisonburg.
This move signifies more than just a change of address; it’s an expansion that directly benefits Alley Cat Tattoo’s clientele. The new location boasts an additional 1,000 square feet, allowing for a more spacious and comfortable environment for both artists and customers. Perhaps even more importantly, the expanded premises include significantly increased parking space – a welcome improvement that addresses a common concern at the previous location. Swartz emphasized that this increased space opens exciting possibilities for the shop, including the capacity to offer a broader range of services, host guest tattoo artists, and organize special events in the future.
For Swartz, the longevity and success of Alley Cat Tattoo are deeply rooted in the unwavering support of the local community. He expressed heartfelt gratitude, stating, “We’ve been able to operate for 23 years in this town because of the community. Not just Harrisonburg and the college, but folks from Bridgewater and Elkton, McGaheysville, and New Market and all these little communities from around here.” His message was clear and inviting: “They always support us and we’re grateful to everyone who ever gotten tattooed at Alley Cat and we welcome them back to the new location.”
Alley Cat Tattoo currently houses a team of six skilled tattoo artists, ensuring the shop can accommodate walk-in clients on a daily basis, alongside scheduled appointments. For those interested in exploring tattoo options or visiting the new location, Alley Cat Tattoo is open Monday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. To delve deeper into their artistry or schedule a consultation, prospective clients are encouraged to visit the Alley Cat Tattoo Facebook page or Instagram for a glimpse into their portfolio and the vibrant Alley Cat community.
