Cat Mace Needs Your Help: Leg Surgery for Three-Legged Hero

My name is Chase Forrester, and I’m reaching out for your support. Our incredible three-legged cat, Mace Windu, a friendly and resilient member of our family, has faced a serious setback. Mace, who is usually full of life, managed to get out of our house and was tragically shot in his one good back leg, resulting in a shattered femur.

A kind neighbor discovered Mace and brought him to Animal Care Clinic. The clinic staff thankfully scanned his microchip and contacted me on May 18th to deliver the distressing news. Rushing to the clinic, I prepared for the worst, but Dr. Anderson presented a couple of options. We could pursue surgery with a specialist to plate his leg, or attempt to heal it with a splint at Animal Care Clinic over 6-8 weeks. Despite his ordeal, Mace remained remarkably calm, purring and charming everyone at the clinic. He handled the situation with far more composure than I could muster.

Surgery seemed like a very invasive and expensive route, so we opted for the splint, hoping for a quicker and less costly recovery. Mace spent a week at the vet, adapting to life on two front legs and a splinted back leg. He was overjoyed to return home and immediately proved his determination. Despite our attempts to confine him to a safe space with beds, a litter box, and food using a baby gate, Mace was unstoppable. He made it clear that he intended to resume his normal life within our home without any restrictions.

Mace quickly learned to navigate with his splint, using the litter box and climbing onto furniture with surprising speed. Throughout it all, he maintained his friendly and vocal personality. However, on Friday, June 25th, an x-ray revealed disappointing news: his leg was not healing as hoped. Surgery is now the only viable option. We have an appointment scheduled for July 6th at Huntsville Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Clinic. The estimated cost for this surgery ranges from $3,000 to $3,800. Mace has consistently demonstrated his incredible adaptability and will to live, and I feel compelled to give him this chance. Putting aside my pride, I am asking for your help. Mace truly deserves this. Please consider sharing our story widely. Any help is greatly appreciated, and above all, please keep this amazing cat in your thoughts.
