Workshop 1: Mastering Shapes and Tones (January 18)
Our first session will focus on the foundational elements of Cats Drawing. We’ll begin by breaking down the main shapes of cats, understanding their anatomy and how to represent them on paper. You’ll then be introduced to the techniques of working with soft pastels, learning how to apply them effectively to your chosen surface. A key focus will be on using tone to create depth and volume, bringing your initial cat drawing to life with dimension.
Workshop 2: Expressing with Color and Composition (January 25)
Building upon the skills learned in the first workshop, the second session delves into the expressive power of color in cats drawing. We’ll explore how to use color to capture the nuances of your cat’s fur and features, adding personality and vibrancy to your portrait. Furthermore, we will address the principles of composition, guiding you on how to arrange your subject within the artwork to create a balanced and visually compelling piece. Course Format:
This online cats drawing workshop consists of two interactive Zoom classes, each lasting 120 minutes. These sessions will be held on Saturdays, from 16:00 to 18:00 London time. Each class will include live demonstrations, opportunities for Q&A, and access to a community forum on Discord to connect with fellow cat art enthusiasts. All classes are recorded and will be available for you to watch back for 12 months, ensuring you can learn at your own pace and revisit the lessons as needed.
Materials You’ll Need:
To participate fully in this cats drawing course, you will require the following materials:
- A set of soft pastels with at least 20 diverse colors (Rembrandt soft pastels by Royal Talens are highly recommended).
- One A4 size sketchbook with smooth surface cartridge paper (150gsm).
