Ever wondered how a lifelong passion for cats begins? For me, it started in the most unexpected nursery. As a one-month-old baby, I was introduced to the enchanting world of Siamese cats when my mother’s cat, Catherine, decided my bassinet was the perfect birthing suite. From that moment on, Asian breeds, especially Siamese and Thai cats, have held a special place in my heart and home. Through the years, this love persisted, evolving from a personal affection into a dedicated dream of breeding pedigreed felines. In 2002, I took the plunge into the captivating realm of Burmese cats, a decision that would enrich my life immeasurably.
My journey into professional cat breeding began with Thistle, a stunning sable Burmese show kitten. Bringing him home was a pivotal moment. My young daughter, Melissa, was instantly charmed by his Pug-like appearance, but I was unprepared for the profound connection Burmese cats forge with their humans. Those first few nights, as Thistle nestled under my covers, seeking warmth and closeness, I fell completely in love. Melissa, too, was captivated by this intelligent, playful brown cat who followed her every move and even played fetch. From that day forward, my path was clear. My cattery grew, nurtured by experience and a deep commitment to breed improvement. My Biology degree from Oregon State University provided a solid foundation, which I supplemented with extensive knowledge gleaned from veterinary resources and the shared wisdom of seasoned breeders. Today, I am a passionate cat breeder, devoted to the exceptional American Burmese breed.
Expanding my horizons in 2016, I embraced the Bombay breed, an approved outcross for Burmese within the CFA. This led me to Usher, my delightful Bombay stud, affectionately nicknamed “Ooshey,” from Rokstarr Bombays, thanks to Troy Weier and Brian Tripp. My Bombay family further blossomed with the arrival of two beautiful queens, Sia and Marin, from Carney Cats Cattery, generously entrusted to me by Roy Carney of Iowa.
In 2021, I transitioned to full-time cat breeding, retiring from my career as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. Now, my focus is wholeheartedly dedicated to my cats, my well-being, and my daughter. If you are searching for a reputable “Cat Breeder Near Me” specializing in Burmese or Bombay kittens, you’ve found a breeder driven by passion, experience, and a lifelong commitment to these wonderful breeds.
